The much awaited sequel is finally here! Ten years later, Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is completed and will get a theatrical release later this year. I had the pleasure of talking to some of the cast at Comic-Con 2009 and took part in a roundtable interview with Julie Benz and Clifton Collins, Jr. Now, try not to be too sad about this next part: Willem Dafoe will not be returning for BDS II. We won’t get to see him in drag this time – well, at least not in the movie. What he does on his own time is his business. I know, I was totally disappointed not to see Dafoe in drag again, too; however, don’t give up on the movie yet. There’s still hope. Smecker (Dafoe) will have a  protégé in BDS II and the protégé will be wearing a skirt and six inch heels. So he will be remembered in that way, only this person will be a female ass kicker played by Julie Benz.

I, for one, am super excited about this flick. The general concensus at the interview was that BDS II will be full of action. Most of the original cast members will return for the second installment including Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, Bill Connolly, and David Della Rocco. It is directed and written by Troy Duffy. I know how everyone loves him ;) . I will keep you updated on the release and the interview will be posted closer to release date.

Man, I love the original but after seeing the documentary “Overnight,” I don’t think Duffy deserved a second chance. I’m pleased that a second one got made (although I can’t imagine how he pulled it off), and I do hope it’s as good as the first. I just hope somebody put that nut on lithium or something to even him out. Can’t wait to find out if he kept it together or burned all his bridges like he did the first time.

I have to say I will miss Willem Dafoe, but if there’s action and Julie Benz involved, I will be first in line!
